Chhattisgarh to speed up electrification in Maoist areas

Raipur : The Chhattisgarh government Friday reviewed rural electrification work in Maoist-hit Bastar region to take power to forested areas, official sources said.

Tribal Welfare Minister Kedar Kashyap, his brother Dinesh Kashyap, MP from Bastar, and several legislators attended the meet.

Energy secretary Aman Singh and other officials drew up plans on how to take electricity to jungle areas in the sprawling region that is dominated by Maoist guerrillas.

The tribal-dominated Bastar, made up of seven districts, lacks good roads, and power and health facilities.
