Patna : Two government officials were shot dead and another was seriously injured Friday by unidentified assailants in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district, police said.
The victims were identified as officials of the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited, a police official said.
Project manager G.B. Singh and engineer Vikash Mishra died on the spot and site in-charge Ramdheen Pandey, seriously injured, was rushed to hospital in Muzaffarpur for treatment.
Belsand police station in-charge, Santosh Sharma said unidentified assailants opened fire on the officials when they were going to a work site in their Bolero vehicle. Both of them were engaged in bridge construction near Belsand.
Sharma said a case had been registered in this connection and police have begun investigation. “Police suspect demand of levy or business rivalry behind the incident,” he said.
