IUML relieved as ECI accepts merger

By TCN News,

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India [ECI] has accepted the merger and allotted the Muslim league Kerala State Committee’s [MLKSC] symbol Ladder to Indian Union Muslim League [IUML], said IUML president E. Ahmed, Minister of State for External Affairs and HRD as he held a press conference at his residence today.

He quoted the ECI statement that “the commission has considered the applications and all supporting documents submitted by the two parties. From the documents brought on record, it is clear that the decision of merger of MLKSC with IUML has the approval of all sections of the parties. There were some communications received from two individuals, viz. Sh. Dawood Miakhan and Prof. Baseer Ahmed Khan opposing the merger. It was, however, seen that neither of them were members of the above party and thus had no locus standi to raise matters relating to IUML…”

Ahmed expressed his satisfaction, as for now it is proved that Mr. Baseer Ahmed Khan’s claim that he is the president of IUML is false. “It is now clear that he was confusing people at the behest of some vested interests; the party will consider taking appropriate legal actions against all such persons who are trying to misuse the name of IUML” said Ahmed.
