Bangalore : The number of Bharatiya Janata Party legislators in Karnataka facing trial for land grab continues to grow. Police Friday sought Speaker K.G. Bopaiah’s permission to prosecute S. Muniraju who represents Dasarahalli near Bangalore on the same charge.
Police attached to Lokayukta (ombudsman) said Friday that their probe had proved land grab charges against Muniraju.
They submitted their report to Lokayukta court judge N.K. Sundhindra Rao who is hearing the case.
Rao had Nov 2 directed the Lokayukta police to probe the complaint of Dasarahalli resident Puttaswamy claiming Muniraju had misused his position as assembly member to usurp half an acre of land belonging to his family.
The other BJP lawmakers facing land grab charges include former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, his son and BJP Lok Sabha member B.Y. Raghavendra, Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani and Housing Minister V. Somanna.
