New Delhi: Describing the murder of an IPS officer Narendra Kumar in Morena district March 8 as “shocking”, Rashtriya Lok Dal MP Jayant Chaudhary Sunday wrote to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation probe.
He said the move will indicate that the state government will not come in the way of an independent investigation.
“The circumstances of the incident point to the involvement of certain vested and powerful elements in the crime…I demand the government should immediately recommend a CBI probe into the incident to show it stands for probity and will not stand in the way of an independent investigation and action,” said Chaudhary in his letter to Chouhan.
“The death of this honest and brave officer has shocked the entire nation and his family including his Indian Administrative Service officer wife Madhu Rani,” said Chaudhary, who attended the slain officer’s last rites March 9 in village Lalpur falling under his Lok Sabha constituency Mathura.
A copy of the letter was later released to the media.
Chaudhury also noted that the family of the dead officer clearly pointed out that he did not receive full cooperation of the local police in hi fight against the mining mafia.
The gruesome murder followed by further attacks on officials in the state is proving to be an embarrassment for the Chouhan government.
