Ghaziabad : Hearing the Aarushi Talwar-Hemraj murder case, a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court Wednesday allowed Rajesh Talwar to remain on bail.
Dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, parents of teenager Aarushi, had moved the Supreme Court seeking the transfer of trial on the grounds of their personal security, and that a large number of witnesses in the case resided in Delhi. But their request was turned down.
Aarushi, 14, was found brutally murdered in their Noida residence May 16, 2008. The body of their domestic help Hemraj was found the next day from the terrace of the house.
CBI Special Judge Preeti Singh said that since the apex court had mentioned that Rajesh Talwar was virtually on bail, she would give him bail.
CBI counsel R.K. Saini submitted an application requesting the court to send Rajesh Talwar and Nupur Talwar to judicial custody.
Defence counsel Satish Tamta opposed the CBI prayer and submitted that in the past the probe agency had given “no-objection” on the issue of releasing Talwar. There was no ground for the probe agency to oppose his bail now.
