Three Punjab DGPs transferred

Chandigarh : Effecting a major reshuffle in the Punjab police top brass Thursday a day after coming to office, the Punjab government ordered the transfer of three officers of director general of police (DGP) rank.

The transfer of the DGPs has been ordered as the state has got a new DGP, Sumedh Singh Saini, to head the 70,000-strong force.

While Saini, a 1982-batch IPS officer, assumed charge as DGP Thursday, his predecessor Anil Kaushik has been posted as DG-cum-chairman and managing director of Punjab Police Housing Corporation.

Rajan Gupta has been posted as DGP-Punjab State Human Rights Commission and Sanjeev Gupta has been posted as DGP, Security and Vigilance, Punjab Powercom.

The government also posted new district police chiefs in Muktsar, Patiala, Barnala, Moga and Mansa.
