Katju praises Pakistan media

New Delhi : Press Council of India (PCI) chairman Markandey Katju has praised Pakistan journalists, who he said were courageously, “even at the risk of their lives, reporting true facts about Pakistan”.

Katju’s comments came at a meeting with Press Council of Pakistan member and “Daily Balochistan Times” Editor-in-Chief Syed Faseih Iqbal here Friday.

“The Pakistan media is functioning in difficult, and sometimes dangerous circumstances and hence deserve full praise for their courageous reporting. I am sure that the Pakistan journalists will continue doing their duty to the people in a responsible manner, and thereby win further applause for their professionalism,” Katju said.

On behalf of the Indian media, Katju conveyed his warm greetings to the Pakistani mediapersons and also assured them of “our sympathy in your courageous struggle”.

“I am sure the new Press Council of Pakistan will do its solemn duty to ensure freedom of the media and high journalistic ethics in Pakistan,” he added.
