Muslim League worker killed on verdict by CPIM party court: Kunjalikutty

Kannur: Hinting at the involvement of CPIM leaders in killing Indian Union Muslim League [IUML] worker and Muslim Students Federation [MSF] leader P Abdul Shuckoor, Kerala state industries minister PK Kunjalikutty said the brutal act could only be compared to the atrocities in Nandigram and Gujarat.

He said that five IUML youths were at first trialled by the CPIM party court, their pictures were then taken and sent to the party leaders and it was only then they chose to kill Shuckoor accusing him of pelting stones at a CPIM leader’s car.

The CPIM owned media earlier made unsuccessful attempts to portray Shuckoor as the one who pelted stones at the party leader’s car but later the image which they published was found to be of someone else’s.

Kunjalikutty demanded immediate actions against all those leaders involved in the conspiracy and guessed that the CPIM leaders might well have employed contract killers to carry out the murder.

The Police report too has made remarks regarding the involvement of the CPIM party courts in his murder. The Kannur district has always been turbulent with such political violence with involvement of CPIM cadres in most cases.

CPIM instead of talking on the merits of the Police investigation have gone on to accuse the Chief Minister’s office of carrying out political agenda against them. But minister Kunjalikutty rubbished the charge. “The Police investigation is on the right track and is carried out on scientific grounds; so it is meaningless to accuse the CM’s office of carrying out conspiracies”, said Kunjalikutty.

He reminded that “The four IUML workers, who survived the attack after being taken into trial by the party court, are living witnesses of the case, so there is more in the store for those who coordinated these brutalities”.

Being optimistic on the Police investigation, he expressed hope that the whole conspiracies would soon come to light.
