Lucknow : Jayant Chaudhary, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) MP from Mathura who was elected to the Uttar Pradesh assembly from Mant, gave up his assembly seat Tuesday.
Son of RLD chief and Aviation Minister Ajit Singh was projected as a possible chief minister if the RLD-Congress alliance swept to power in the state.
This did not happen. The RLD won only nine of the 47 seats it contested.
Party spokesman Anil Dubey said people in Chowdhary’s constituency wanted him to represent them in the Lok Sabha.
