Uttar Pradesh announces new transfer policy

By IANS,

Lucknow : The Samajwadi Party (SP) government in Uttar Pradesh Thursday announced the transfer policy for the year 2012-2013.

Under the new policy, group C and D officials in the state who have complete six years in the same district and 10 years in the same division would be transferred from their present place of posting.

The Akhilesh Yadav government has fixed June 30 as the last date for transfers. This will come as a relief to many officials in the burgeoning bureaucracy of the state, as they were continuously haunted by the spectre of transfers every now and then.

Physically challenged employees have been kept out of the ambit of the new policy..

The new policy also lays down guidelines under which the departmental heads could deviate from it after prior approval by the chief minister through their respective ministers.

Other than this, the chief minister has been authorized to transfer any official/employee of the need arises with regards to administrative needs and under public interest.

After June 30, 2012, all transfers would only be done by the chief minister while officials would now get a week for transit and joining new duties, failing which they would face disciplinary action.
