New Delhi : Team Anna Tuesday condemned the Lok Sabha decision to consider a censure motion against them.
Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal said the whole country would watch if MPs would stand by those with criminal background in Parliament.
“Will ‘good’ MPs today stand by the 162 MPs with criminal backgrounds or would they demand cleansing of parliament?” Kejriwal said on Twitter.
Kiran Bedi, another Team Anna member, said: “Can our parliament while debating a resolution condemning Team Anna, pass a creative/strategic vision of what parliament ought to be and how?”
The Lok Sabha will take up the notice issued by NDA convenor and Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Sharad Yadav to Speaker Meira Kumar for a vote after a brief debate.
The censure motion, if adopted and voted in favour by a majority in the house, would mean that Team Anna members would be criticised but won’t be called to the house unlike under a privilege motion.
On Monday, many MPs cutting across party lines asked the speaker to move a resolution condemning what they said were unsavoury remarks by members of Hazare’s team at the renewed anti-corruption agitation at Jantar Mantar Sunday.
The man in the eye of the storm is Kejriwal who had said that parliament was facing a credibility crisis with 162 MPs facing criminal charges. He also said some MPs were thieves and rapists.
