‘Arms coming to Karachi from Afghanistan’

Islamabad : Arms and ammunition are being transported to the port city of Karachi from Afghanistan and huge stocks have so far come to the metropolis, Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said.

The arms and ammunition get transported to Karachi in large quantities from Afghanistan over routes passing through Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, and huge stocks have so far come to the metropolis, Geo News reported.

“Ferrari camps are also resurfacing in Afghanistan and soon Pakistan will discuss these matters with the Afghan government,” Malik said while talking to media persons here.

Training camps for Baloch militants are traditionally known as Ferrari camps.

The minister said it was the job of the provincial government to establish peace in Karachi and in this regard the federal government was providing all possible resources to it.

On Thursday, at least seven more people were killed while fourteen vehicles and two motorcycles were torched in various parts of Karachi. After a brief calm, riots broke out again after the killing of an Awami National Party (ANP) activist.

On Tuesday, at least 10 people were killed and over 50 vehicles torched as violence erupted in Karachi following the murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) member Mansoor Mukhtar and his brother at their house.
