Anil Kumar Tayal, who worked in the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s office in Delhi, died Sunday after slipping into the open manhole in the Green Valley park.

The case of negligence was registered following a complaint from Tayal’s colleague, said police circle officer R.K. Pandey.

“We have registered a criminal case under section 304A of the Indian Penal Code against the person who looked after the Green Valley park developed by the civic body. The accused has not been arrested so far,” he said.

Deputy General Manager of ONGC Mahendra Singh Kak had lodged a complaint in Indirapuram police station in which he alleged that his company’s official lost his life due to the criminal negligence of civic officials.

After the incident, ONGC officials took Tayal’s body to his native place in Barnala in Punjab for cremation.

Tayal is survived by his wife and two sons. He joined ONGC in 1982 and was recently promoted to the post of general manager.
