Manoj, alias Bukhara, involved in four murder cases in Haryana, was arrested Tuesday from Sector-17 in west Delhi’s Rohini where he had come to meet his associates.

“Manoj disclosed that the reason for his escape was to complete his unfinished business of killing persons inimical to him. He had planned to kill at least half a dozen people in Delhi and Haryana,” said Ashok Chand, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime).

Chand informed that Manoj along with seven other criminals of Haryana had escaped from the jail after cutting the grille of their barrack in the intervening night of Jan 18/19.

The accused smuggled the cutting blades inside the jail with help from outsiders.

“Manoj prepared ‘halwa’ inside the jail with the help of the seven inmates and laced it with some sedatives to make the other prisoners unconscious,” said the official.

When all the prisoners fell asleep they fled after cutting the iron grille of their barrack.

Manoj has studied up to Class 11 at a government school in Pugthala in Haryana’s Sonepat district. He is involved in six criminal cases including murder, robbery and possession of illegal firearms.
