New Delhi : The promoters of Loop Telecom told a special CBI court here Thursday that no charge of cheating could be made out against the company in the 2G spectrum allocation case.
Counsel Parag Tripathi told Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge O.P. Saini that the company not violated the guidelines of telecom licences in acquiring 2G spectrum.
He said the CBI chargesheet, taken at face value, does not disclose any benami transaction, adding the government has not come forward as a complainant in the case.
Earlier, the Essar Group had denied charges that its promoters were the real investors and beneficiaries of the spectrum and licences awarded to Loop in 2008 by using it as a front.
Essar Group promoters’ counsel and senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi had said that all the facts were made available to government.
The hearing will continue Friday.
