Lahore : Shahbaz Sharif, chief minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province, joined protesters who were upset with power outages and raised slogans against the federal government.
Shahbaz Sharif said here Thursday that outages in the province were a conspiracy hatched by the federation and President Asif Ali Zardari, Geo News reported Friday.
He raised slogans against the federal government and warned of a march towards Islamabad if power supply was not normalised.
He asked the protesters not to damage public property.
Zardari told Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar in Islamabad Thursday to take effective measures for elimination of unscheduled loadshedding.
He suggested that a central control room be also set up.
Chairing an emergency meeting, Zardari expressed his displeasure over the increasing incidents of power outages in different parts of the country.
