“We never asked the state government to rate itself at the end of a year when it has been elected for five years. The government is rating itself on its own, appearing before examinations which it is conducting itself and then saying it has passed with 90-100 percent marks, ” Bardhan said re while addressing the condolence meeting of CPI leader and former state minister Nandagopal Bhattacharya who died May 6.

Mocking Banerjee’s slogan of “parivartan”, he said: “What has changed? By how much? What are the policy changes?”

In an obvious reference to Banerjee last week dubbing as “Maoists” and”CPI-M cadre” some students who had put uncomfortable questions to her at an event hosted by a national television channel, Bardhan said: “This condolence meeting may also be referred as one by ‘Marxists’ and ‘Maoists’ as I am posing such questions”.
