Beijing : China’s ministry of public security has launched a probe after media reports said seven or eight teenagers had gone missing over the past few years in southwest Yunnan province.
The ministry has sent a team of criminologists to look into the disappearances.
The teenagers had gone missing from Nanmen village in Jinning county. Among those missing, a 19-year-old teenager was later found murdered, the Shanghai Daily reported.
Police have detained a 59-year-old man, in whose house the dead teenager’s telephone card, bank card and other belongings were found.
The county police chief and head of the local police station have been sacked.
