Chennai : The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), a constituent of the Congress-led UPA government at the centre, Friday announced it would hold protests across Tamil Nadu May 30, condemning the central and state governments for a hike in petrol and other prices.
In a statement issued here, the party said that protest demonstrations would be held in front of the central government offices or the district collectorates May 30.
Taking a dig at the AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu for burdening people by increasing the milk price, power tariff and bus fares, the DMK said the central government had imposed an additional burden on people by hiking petrol prices.
According to the DMK, the May 30 protest is to urge the central government to at least partially roll back the steep price hike if not fully to ease the burden of the people.
