New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs and four state governments on the plea seeking whereabouts of Bihar engineer Fasih Mahmood. According to his family and media reports, Mahmod was picked on 13th May from his home in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia on the request of Indian government and deported thereafter but hasn’t yet been produced in court.
Hearing the habeas corpus petition filed by Nikhat Perween, wife of Mahmood, the apex court bench of justices KS Radhakrishnan and JS Khehar has sought response by 1st June i.e. within 24 hours.
The petition sought court’s direction to the government to reveal the whereabouts of Fasih Mahmood.
Four states which have been served notice by the court are Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Bihar.
