Inviting Rajapaksa insult to Tamil sentiments: Vaiko

Kolkata : MDMK general secretary Vaiko Friday took exception to the central and BJP-led Madhya Pradesh governments inviting Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and said it was an “insult” to Tamil sentiments.

Vaiko regretted that the Madhya Pradesh government invited the Sri Lankan president despite objections from the MDMK, which considers Rajapaksa guilty for the alleged torture of Tamils in Sri Lanka.

“The attitude of the UPA government is also an insult to Tamil sentiment,” Vaiko told mediapersons here after calling on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat Writers’ Buildings.
