Custody death: Cops to face identification parade

Gurgaon : An identification parade would be held to narrow down on accused policemen in the alleged custody death of a 29-year-old Dalit cab driver here last week, police said Monday.

A panel, comprising four doctors, conducted the post-mortem of Bharat Bhushan who died Saturday, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police P.C. Meena assured the family members that the identification parade of all the 30 policemen, who were present in the Rajendra Park police station at the time of the victim’s death, would be done.

The family members of Bhushan shouted slogans against police and local administration. They were demanding that names of the guilty policemen should be disclosed.

Bhushan died Saturday evening in the police station after being taken there on his wife’s complaint. The two earlier had an argument.

Hajari Lal, a doctor who conducted the victim’s post-mortem, told IANS: “Though there were some spots of injuries on the victim’s body, they were not enough to cause death.”

The victim was a taxi driver at Delhi airport.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Surender Pal Singh said an inquiry had been ordered.
