Government ups Kolkata airport modernisation cost

New Delhi : The government Thursday approved the revised modernisation cost of Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport and pegged it at Rs.2,325 crore.

“Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today (Thursday) approved the revised cost estimate of Rs.2,325 crore for the modernisation and expansion,” the civil aviation ministry said in a statement.

According to the statement, the CCEA had earlier approved an amount of Rs.1,942.51 crore.

“Based on award of certain packages of work, by competitive bidding and review of scope of certain works, the project cost increased to Rs.2,325 crore,” the statement said.

The airport has a planned annual handling capacity of four million passengers on the international side and 16 million domestic.
