Kolkata : In response to the demand of cable TV operators in the state, the West Bengal government has requested the central government to extend the deadline for digitisation beyond Oct 31.
“We have requested the centre to extend the deadline for the digitisation of television because most of the cable TV operators have complained that they have received only 50 percent of the allotted set top boxes,” state Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim told reporters Wednesday.
Digitisation is scheduled to come into effect Oct 31 in the four metros: Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.
