New Delhi : Bands from the country’s police and paramilitary forces will play martial tunes that have inspired soldiers in battlefields to enthral the national capital’s residents Sunday at India Gate.
This event will be part of the four-day 13th All India Police Band Competition hosted for the first time by the Border Security Force (BSF).
The bands, including brass, pipes, drums and buglers, are coming down to the national capital from several states, a senior BSF official told IANS.
Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh will inaugurate the competition Oct 7 at India Gate after which the contest will be conducted at a BSF camp in south Delhi.
The closing ceremony will also be organised at India Gate Oct 11.
“The bands will play regimental tunes, traditional marching tunes, folk tunes, making the event more colourful and enjoyable,” he said.
The annual affair will have 13 teams of state police forces and seven of central armed police forces.
