Emails show that Geetika was forced to rejoin MDLR: Police

By IANS,

New Delhi: Emails exchanged between Geetika Sharma, former air hostess of MDLR airline who committed suicide Aug 4, her employer Gopal Goyal Kanda and his aide Aruna Chaddha revealed that Geetika was being coerced to return to MDLR, police said Saturday.

A police officer said that an examination of documents received from Microsoft revealed that Geetika had prepared a draft complaint against Gopal Goyal Kanda and mailed it back to herself on Oct 4, 2010.

“Geetika did it to create and preserve records of her unbearable agonies that she was going through because of the designs of Kanda and Aruna Chadha,” said the complaint of the police.

The chargesheet filed by the Delhi Police reads: “In the complaint, she had alleged that some foul play was being attempted against her, and expressed her apprehension that she was being harassed with the sole purpose of compelling her to join MDLR from where she had resigned.”

Geetika suspected that the sole aim and motive of this campaign was to compel her to give in to the ‘lustful wishes’ of Kanda.

The draft complaint of Geetika also indicates that she had pointed fingers at Kanda and said that he was behind all these acts, which were creating unbearable problems for her.

Ankit, Geetika’s brother, had handed over records of his sister’s email ID [email protected] obtained from Microsoft company.

On October 6 and 14, 2010, Kanda had also sent emails through his email ID – [email protected] – to Geetika to mount pressure on her to enter into a compromise on a matter pending in a Goa court against two other former employees of MDLR, Nupur Mehta and Ankita Singh.

Ankita’s name was mentioned in Geetika’s suicide note.

Geetika had claimed that Ankita was in a relationship with Kanda, and even has a child by him.

In a theft case filed on a complaint from Geetika December 9, 2011, both Nupur and Ankita had been arrested.

Kanda was pressurizing Geetika to withdraw the case, and she was forced to sign a compromise letter.

Co-accused Aruna Chaddha had also sent an email to Geetika on November 15, 2010 mentioning therein to forget everything and join the company again.

Anuradha Sharma, mother of Geetika, also stated to police that in December 2010 Kanda visited her residence along with his family and apologised to her for deceiving her daughter.

“Kanda also lured Anuradha with a new bait that he would appoint her daughter as a director with a salary of Rs. 60,000 per month. Thereafter, Geetika was appointed as director on January 13, 2011 with the direction to report to the chairman and MD on a daily basis,” the officer added.

Because of continuous blackmailing and allurement, followed by reassurances from Kanda and Chaddha, Geetika returned to the MDLR airlines.

“Though she joined MDLR under these circumstances, she again resigned in December 2011,” the police officer said.

Geetika committed suicide by hanging herself at her Ashok Vihar flat on the intervening night of Aug 4-5. She had also left behind a suicide note in which she accused former Haryana minister Kanda, owner of the MDLR airline, and his employee Aruna Chaddha.

A case of abetment of suicide was registered against Kanda and Chaddha Aug 5, the day Geetika was found hanging.
