Rio de Janeiro: Brazilian World Cup-winning coach Luiz Felipe Scolari may return to European football.
There are reports linking him to the vacant position at Sporting Lisbon, reports Xinhua.
The Portuguese first division club announced Friday it had sacked coach Ricardo Sa Pinto after the club’s 0-3 Europa League loss to Hungary’s Videoton Thursday.
Scolari, who was last month dismissed by Brazilian top-flight outfit Palmeiras, has expressed his wish to return to European or international football before retiring from coaching after the 2014 World Cup.
Sporting is seventh in the league with just six points from five matches and last in the Europa League’s Group G after two games.
