Two lakh households to get cash for food subsidy in Delhi

New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Wednesday announced that her government would provide food subsidy worth Rs.600 in cash to two lakh poor households.

The amount will be transferred to the bank account of the senior-most female member of the household.

The subsidy would be utilized for the purchase of rice, wheat, sugar and other essential eatables.

“An outlay of Rs.150 crore has been provided for this purpose during the current financial year to cover two lakh vulnerable households identified as per approved parameters of Mission Convergence,” Dikshit said.

“There are around 4 lakh households with BPL and Antyodaya ration cards in Delhi, getting subsidized food-grains under PDS. The city government was keen to provide relief to those vulnerable families which were not covered under these categories,” Dikshit said here.
