The total number of votes polled was 717 and six votes were declared invalid. The local body by-elections to 30 wards in Kerala were held on October 10 and results were out today.

The Left Democratic Front [LDF] candidate could only procure 32 votes in total. Last year the CPI (M) candidate had bagged 150 votes in the ward. Muslim League fears some kind tactic alliance between CPI (M) and Welfare Party, although it was unsuccessful.

Earlier it appeared to be triangular contest. It is believed that the left parties decided to cast their votes in favour of the Welfare Party candidate to defeat UDF candidate.
