Munda to begin four-day Jharkhand tour Tuesday

By IANS,

Ranchi : After recovering from a chopper accident and remaining bed-ridden for three months, Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda will begin a four-day tour in the state from Tuesday.

During the tour – ‘Johar (gratitude) Yatra’ – the Jharkhand chief minister will review various governmental schemes and the progress of developmental programmes in the state.

“Johar Yatra is to thank people of the state whose wishes helped me recover from the helicopter accident. During my yatra (tour), I will review the social sector schemes, inspect the condition of roads and the progress of developmental works,” Munda told reporters here Monday.

During his tour, Munda will cover five districts — Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Seraikela, West Singhbhum and Khuti by road.

He will spend two nights – one in Khuti and the other in West Singhbhum district. Both districts are said to be the stronghold of Maoist guerrillas.

After completing a four-phase ‘Sadak (road) Yatra’ in February this year, the chief minister sustained serious injuries in a helicopter crash in May.

Munda said that in one year’s time, the public distribution system (PDS) in the state would be connected to an online network.

“In the next one year, we shall be able to get each and every information related to PDS system online. Every evening we will get the details of the lift and sale of the foodgrains through PDS,” he said.

“In the next two years, the work on transmission line network will be completed and we shall be able to utilise 25 percent of the 3,000 MW power generated by the private sector in the state,” Munda said.
