Chandigarh : A day after India Against Corruption (IAC) activists protested against Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in New Delhi, state minister Randeep Singh Surjewala Monday slammed them for “hooliganism” and setting a “new low” in political discourse.
“The action of about 150 activists of IAC, most of whom were workers dismissed by Maruti, to force their way into the family residence of the chief minister’s son and MP Deepender Singh Hooda by breaking police barriers, indulging in violence and obstructing traffic is condemnable, is undemocratic and sets a new low in the democratic process,” he said.
Surjewala said activist Arvind Kejriwal and his colleagues should know that the New Delhi house was not the official residence of the Haryana chief minister but allotted to his son.
“The chief minister was not even in Delhi but was attending to official functions in Chandigarh. Only family members were present in the house.”
IAC activists tried to break the police cordon to reach the Hooda residence Sunday to protest against alleged favours granted to realty giant DLF by his government.
