Hyderabad: The city today remained calm during the Friday prayers after sporadic communal clashes on Wednesday night, thanks to the tolerance and resilience of the people added with heavy police security.

Section 144 is imposed in the violent hit areas. But in other parts of the city, it was business as usual. Communal clashes failed to exterminate the festive spirit of the season.

Police has so far arrested seven people for allegedly instigating and participating in communal clashes in Musheerabad. One Muslim youth has also been arrested in connection with the Mangalghat Durga puja rally violence, allegedly for burning the jeep of sub-inspector.

Police patrolling during the peak hours of the night in sensitive areas has also been increased.

There was mild tension in Chandrayangutta area, suburb of Hyderabad when news of a Muslim man being attacked and stabbed by three intoxicated Sikh youths spread.

It was a dispute related to money lending. South zone police came into action immediately, and task force was deployed in the sensitive points.

Additional security is being maintained in the view of coming Eid ul Adha.
