Thiruvananthapuram : When President Pranab Mukherjee addressed the Kerala assembly Tuesday, he became only the third president to do so.
Erstwhile president K.R. Narayanan first addressed the Kerala assembly on Sep 18, 1997, at the old assembly building.
On July 28, 2005, former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam addressed the assembly at its present building.
“We are the only assembly in the country to achieve this rare honour where three presidents have addressed us,” assembly Speaker G. Karthikeyan said.
Mukherjee was addressing the house to mark the 125th anniversary of the Kerala assembly, that met for the first time as the Travancore Legislative Council on August 23, 1888.
