Astana: Nearly 200 kg of heroin has been confiscated on the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan border by Kazakh customs officers.
A car with a trailer travelling from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan was stopped at the Karasu customs check point. Around 190 kg of heroin was found in the car, said the press service for the customs control department.
Sniffer dogs pinpointed a clay-coloured substance in the back of the car.
Customs officers believe the drug was prepared in Afghanistan and planned to be transported to Europe.
Taking into account the price of Afghan heroin — $1 million per kg — the price of the seized heroin has been estimated at $190 million, officials said.
