Mumbai : An official of Taloja jail in Maharashtra’s Thane district was injured when he was shot at by some assailants, police said. Personal rivalry is believed to be the reason for the attack.
According to police, Bhaskar Kachre left the jail premises along with a friend in a car to go home. Their car was followed by another one, which forced them to stop a kilometre away from the jail.
Kachre then entered into a heated argument with two people who alighted from the second vehicle. The argument degenerated into fisticuffs and then one of them whipped out a revolver and fired at least one round at Kachre. Even as Kachre fell down bleeding, the two assailants zoomed off in their car.
Kachre has been admitted to MGM Hospital in Navi Mumbai and his condition is stable.
