By IANS,

Tehran : Hundreds of Iranians Thursday shouted anti-US slogans and protested against a movie that allegedly insults Prophet Mohammad, Xinhua reported.

Carrying placards against the film, the protesters gathered in front of the Swiss embassy in Tehran which represents the US interests in Iran, and shouted anti-US and anti-Israel slogans.

The film has also ignited violent protests in Egypt, Libya and Yemen.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Tehran “strongly” condemns the film which insults Islamic ideals, Xinhua quoted the Mehr news agency as saying.

Mehmanparast called the movie “loathsome”, and that the US was “responsible” for what he termed insults “directed against Islamic beliefs”.
