By TCN Staff Reporter,

Thrissur: The Thrissur Vigilance court ordered an investigation against Wakf board CEO BM Jamal, as a petitioner named TM Abdussalam from the Ernakulum Padamugal Mahal, accused him of forging documents while lending out the property associated with the Padamugal Juma Masjid, thus causing serious economic loss to the institution.

Besides Jamal, the Vigilance Court Judge Bhaskaran have asked the Ernakulum Vigilance DSP to probe into the roles of Wakf Board officials including PK Jaleel, KK Muhammed Ashraf, former Mahal President of Padamugal Muslim Jamaath – NA Abdullah, former Secretary – K E Ashraf, former Vice President – VS Abubacker and Treasurer – AK Abdu Rahman.

The petition accuses the Wakf Board CEO, officials and Mahal Committee of forging documents in order to keep away people who were ready to take up rooms in the shopping complex associated with Masjid for reasonable rents and instead they rented out those rooms in secret to people late in the night for meagre amounts.

Earlier Jamal did make attempts to rent out the building for 10 years under lease to one Muhammed Kunji [his brother’s business partner] and was forced to refrain from this attempt as the Mahal Committee objected to it.

Following this Jamal was able to rent the property out to another Binami and soon inaugurated a venture in one among those rooms of the shopping complex. The petitioner points out this as violation of the Wakf laws and an obvious attempt of looting the Wakf properties.

Earlier too there were similar vigilance cases filed against Jamal for forging documents and misusing the Wakf property for personal benefits.

Kerala Wakf Protection Committee State Convener Nasar Manayil said that Kerala govt hasn’t yet carried out even preliminary investigations into similar cases of secret trades between Wakf board officials and Binami owners – who are often backed by politicians and businessmen, despite solid evidences submitted by the Wakf Protection Committee. “Only a CBI investigation could reveal the conspiracies behind looting crores of Rupees. Wakf Binami’s and Board officials are equal culprits in this treachery” says Nasar.
