We hope Mamata will review her decision: Bengal Congress

By IANS,

Kolkata : Terming West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s decision to withdraw support to the UPA-II government as “unfortunate”, West Bengal Pradesh Congress president Pradip Bhattacharjee Tuesday expressed hope that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo would review her decision.

“It is unfortunate. We hope that she would review her decision,” Bhattacharjee told IANS.

An aggressive Mamata Banerjee Tuesday withdrew the TMC’s support to the Congress-led UPA government.

However, she gave a lifeline to the UPA, saying her party would reconsider its decision if the government withdrew its decision to allow FDI in retail, cut down the increased diesel prices by at least Rs.3 and raised the number of subsidised LPG cylinders per household to 12. She also demanded a cut in fertiliser prices.

“But I want to say one thing that the allegations that she had brought against Congress is totally wrong,” said Bhattacharjee.

Earlier, when he was asked whether the state Congress would also pull out its minister from the state cabinet, Bhattacharjee said he would discuss the matter with the Congress high command.

“Today, I had a discussion with Shakeel Ahmed (AICC leader in charge of Bengal) before Trinamool announced their decision. But after the announcement, I had not discussed the matter with the Congress high command. We will discuss it,” Bhattacharjee told a news channel.
