Patna : Hundreds of Bihar’s ruling Janata Dal-United activists Friday ransacked the party’s state headquarters here protesting against rampant black market in fertilizers.
Police said the slogan-shouting JD-U workers from Dhanarua in Patna district staged the protest on the busy Birchand Patel Marg.
“They shouted slogans and demanded action against officials… Some protesters entered the office, tore down banners and posters and damaged flower pots,” a police official said.
The Bihar government last month urged the central government to provide urea to overcome a serious shortage.
Fertilizers, mainly urea, are smuggled out of Bihar as demand for them is high in Nepal and Bangladesh.
