Two arrested in Rs.57 lakh robbery

New Delhi : Two men who were involved in a Rs.57 lakh robbery at gunpoint here last month have been arrested, police said Friday.

Aakil, 25, and Wasim, 24, were arrested by southeast Delhi police.

Police said that Aakil was arrested Sep 18 at 10:30 p.m. from the Delhi-Haryana border at Badarpur when he was coming to Delhi from Faridabad on a Pulsar motor cycle. “He admitted his involvement in the robbery incident,” police said. Later, police arrested Wasim.

The case dates to Aug 11 when two people on a bike robbed Rs.57 lakh after shooting and injuring three employees of a petrol pump while they were going to a bank to deposit cash.

The police has recovered over Rs.12 lakh, a motor cycle and jewellery purchased from the looted money from the possession of Aakil.

The police said that hunt is still on and they are searching for other accused involved in the case.

Puneet Bansal, Jitender, Vinod Kumar and their car driver Jagmohan were going to a bank in Vivek Vihar to deposit money on the morning of Aug 11 when the heist took place. Jitender, Vinod and Jagmohan were injured. The victims were going to a bank in Vivek Vihar from Dilshad Garden, where their petrol pump was situated.
