3 pistols recovered from Rajdhani Express, one nabbed

Guwahati: The Government Railway Police (GRP) Saturday arrested one person from the New Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express in Guwahati and recovered three 9 mm pistols and six magazines from his possession.

GRP officials deployed at the Guwahati Railway Station in Paltan Bazar said the arms were recovered during a routine search operation.

“We have arrested one person – Ram Avadesh Singh, who hails from Dhanbad. He had admitted that he procured the arms from some dealer in Dimapur, which has become a hub of illegal arms in the northeast region,” said a senior GRP officials.

“The arrested person has also admitted that he boarded the train at Dimapur station and that he was taking the arms to Patna,” said the GRP official adding that investigation is on to find out more details about the source and destination of the arms.

“While two of the pistols were made in Austria, the third was made in the Czech Republic,” the police said.
