Colombo: India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni Saturday came out in support of Zaheer Khan saying it was only a matter of time before the speedster regained his form.
“Zaheer might not have been at his best in the last few matches but whenever that happens the others need to step up. I believe it is a matter of time before he finds his form,” Dhoni told reporters on the eve of India’s clash against England in the World Twenty20 tournament.
Zaheer looked off-colour in the team’s tournament opener against Afghanistan, giving away 32 runs in three overs. Dhoni, however, described him as the Sachin Tendulkar of India’s bowling attack.
“For me, Zaheer is the Sachin Tendulkar of the Indian bowling attack. He has been the leader of the bowling unit for a number of years.”
Dhoni hinted at making a few changes against England with the team already through to the Super Eights.
“We are looking to make a few changes in the side. We want most of our 15 members to get some game time in the middle before we get on with the Super Eights,” he added.
