Five people in Sheila’s entourage injured

New Delhi : Five people, including four policemen, were injured Wednesday in an accident involving some vehicles of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s entourage after it was breached by a cyclist, officials said.

The chief minister is safe and unhurt in the incident which occurred near Hanuman Temple in north Delhi. It took place when the entourage was returning to Delhi Secretariat from Raj Niwas where Dikshit had gone to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the chief justice of Delhi High Court.

“The accident took place when a cyclist entered the chief ministers’ entourage and the vehicles collided back-to-back to save the cyclist,” an official said.

The four police constables sitting in one of the vehicles and an officer in the chief minister’s office were injured in the accident. Five vehicles were damaged in the accident.

Dikshit has expressed concern about those injured and instructed the health department to provide suitable treatment to all.

All the injured were discharged after due medical care and treatment, an official said.
