Bhubaneswar: At least three Maoist cadres were arrested by police in Odisha Saturday with some explosives and Maoist literature, an official said.
Police nabbed Prafulla Chetty, Manoj Dakua and K. Suresh Patnaik near a bus stand at the district headquarters town of Nabarangpur, about 563 km from state capital Bhubaneswar when they were about to board a bus.
“We seized from them about seven kg of explosives, some Maoist literature and Rs.63 thousand in cash,” district superintendent of police Brajesh Kumar Rai told IANS.
“They are cadres of the Mainpur Division of the outlawed Communist Party of India-(Maoist) which has been operating in the region. We are investigating if they are involved in any other crimes,” he added.
Maoists are active in more than half of the state. The district of Nabarangpur is considered their stronghold.
