Committee for minority and tea tribe community

    Guwahati: Keeping in the mind of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi has directed chief secretary PP Varma to constitute special committees to suggest ways and means for speedy and effective execution of different schemes initiated for the welfare of minority, tea and ex-tea tribe community in the state.

    State minister for Food and civil supplies and minority affairs Nazrul Islam will act as the chairman of the committee for the minorities while revenue and disaster management minister Prithibi Majhi will head the other committee for tea tribes.

    Besides them, the committees will comprise Panchayat and Rural Development minister Rakibul Hussain, Public Health Engineering minister Gautam Roy, Social Welfare minister Akon Bora, Agriculture minister Nilamoni Sen Deka, Power minister Pradyut Bordoloi, Health and Education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Excise minister Ajit Singh, Irrigation minister Dr Ardhendu Kumar Dey, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary minister Khor Singh Engti and Border minister Siddeque Ahmed. The committee will submit its recommendations within a month.
