Kolkata : The West Bengal Human Rights Commission has sought from the city police chief a report on the alleged assault and molestation of a student of Rabindra Bharati University here, an official said Saturday.
“The victim has complained of police inaction. No arrest has been made despite a complaint filed by her alleging molestation and assault. So the commission has ordered Kolkata Police Commissioner (Surajit Kar Purkayastha) to submit a report within two weeks,” commission’s joint secretary Sujay Kumar Haldar told IANS.
The student had Tuesday filed a complaint at the Sinthi police station alleging that she was stalked, molested and assaulted by a group of students.
The girl later approached the commission with her grievance following which the order was issued.
