Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Surender Pal Singh said the protestors converged at Rajiv Chowk around 7.30 p.m. and stopped all traffic on the road, putting motorists to inconvenience. They were allowing only emergency vehicles like ambulances to pass.

Intervention by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Satender Duhan, along with police, restored traffic on the expressway around 8.15 p.m., an official said.

Geetanjali’s body, with three gunshot wounds on chin, chest and stomach was found July 17 evening near a play ground in crowed police lines campus. Her husband’s licensed revolver was found near the body. A murder case was registered.

Hundreds of protestors, including Geetanjali’s father O.P. Aggarwal, came from Panchkula in buses and cars and gathered around 3 p.m. near the official house of Geetanjali’s husband and Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravneet Garg in Civil Lines area.

They were holding banners and posters in their hands demanding immediate suspension of Garg and his arrest along with his parents.

The protestors, including a large numbers of women, also shouted slogans outside Garg’s house, police said.

The agitators later marched towards the house of District and Sessions Judge Shekhar Dhawan and protested there for nearly an hour. They also blocked the Jharsa Road in the area, police said.

Shouting slogans against Gurgaon Police Commissioner Alok Mittal and Garg, the protestors blocked the Sohna Chowk before reaching the police chief’s office.

The police chief was not present in the office and they later blocked the expressway on Rajiv Chowk.

The protest came a day after Geetanjali’s 28th birthday Saturday.
