One killed in Egypt clashes

    Cairo: One person was killed and several others injured Tuesday night during clashes between the supporters and opponents of ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi here, an official said.

    The two sides exchanged birdshots, and traffic in the area was paralysed, Xinhua reported citing spokesperson of the health ministry Mohamed Fathallah.

    Some unknown miscreants also damaged a store owned by Islamist businessman, media reports said.

    Earlier Tuesday morning, Morsi supporters clashed with police as the former tried to lay siege to various government ministries in the capital Cairo. The morning clashes resulted in some people getting injured.

    Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood group and their allies have been demanding Morsi’s reinstatement as president after he was overthrown July 3.

    Clashes between pro- and anti-Morsi demonstrators and security personnel have left more than 250 people killed since Morsi’s ouster.
