Shimla : The Himachal Pradesh government is taking steps for the renovation and maintenance of historic temples in the state, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said Friday.

“The grant-in-aid of the temples has been enhanced and adequate funds are being provided for renovation of the old temples built in the ancient architecture,” he said while participating in a religious ceremony in Yageshwar Devta temple at Shingla near Rampur, some 120 km from here.

He underlined the need to maintain the rich traditions and cultural heritage.

“The government is committed to preserve art and culture and special programme will be started to train the youth in the folk arts, craft and traditions,” he added.

The hill state, also known as the Land of the Gods, has 28 prominent Hindu temples.
